Hasil Adkins

If you are not familiar with Hasil Adkins you should click here to read some good biographical information. Besides that I have posted 4 great albums of music that I would recommend checking out. If you listened to the Rockabilly Psychosis & the Garage Disease album I posted previously then you heard his song She Said. That song alone made me want to hear more of his music.

Hasil Adkins - What The Hell Was I Thinking?

Year: 1998
Country: USA
Here is a collection of songs sometimes more restrained than his earlier works but still performed solo and featuring some great rockabilly, blues, country madness. Click here to listen.

Hasil Adkins - Poultry In Motion

Year: 2000
Country: USA
So Hasil Adkins was apparently somewhat obsessed with chicken. This album is a compilation of all the tracks he recorded that feature chicken as the main subject. Click here to listen.

Hasil Adkins - Chicken Walk

Year: 1986
Country: USA
Here is another collection of lo-fi rockabilly tracks recorded by the man himself. I believe these were all recorded in the 1950's - 1960's era. Lot's of good stuff on this album. Click here to listen.

Hasil Adkins - Out To Hunch

Year: 1986
Country: USA
This album features a collection of 1950's - 1960's solo tracks that were recorded in his West Virginia shack. Click here to listen.

Unknown - Unknown

Here is an interesting album of some cool instrumental psychedelia by an unknown artist. Found this one online awhile back & never did find out who made this album. It sounds like it could be 1960's & it is a good listen similar to albums posted here previously. If anyone knows anything about this album please don't hesitate to post a comment. Click here to listen.

The Monks

The Monks were a group of 5 American GIs stationed in Germany in the mid-1960's. They began as The 5 Torquays and evolved into The Monks. Their lone album, Black Monk Time, is in my opinion one of the best of the 1960's. Below this post is nearly everything Monks that there is to be found. I do not have the live album "Let's Start A Beat!" so I would greatly appreciate it if anyone out there has that album available to share please post a link here.

The Monks - The Transatlantic Feedback

Various Artists - Silver Monk Time - A Tribute To The Monks

In recent years there has been a sort of Monks revival as more people discover the gems they left behind. This various artists compilation is testament to that fact & features modern artists performing Monks covers. Has some cool moments but not as good as Black Monk Time. Click CD1 & CD2 to listen.

The Monks - Live In Minnesota (2006)

The Monks - Black Monk Time

Year: 1966
Country: Germany
This is the lone studio album released by The Monks. If you have never heard this album I highly recommend checking it out now. Also, there is a good amount of information to be found about the band online if you want to know more about them. I loved this album from the first time I heard it and I still feel the same way after many, many more listens. Click here to listen.

The Monks - Five Upstart Americans

Year: 1965
Country: Germany
This album contains mainly demos that eventually became Black Monk Time. It would probably be best to listen to that album before hearing this one. I think they definately improved upon the demo versions heard here mainly by removing the lengthy organ intros. Click here to listen.

The Monks - Live In Germany 1966

Salvation - Gypsy Carnival Caravan

Year: 1968
Country: USA
This is the second and final album released by Salvation. I bought this for 50 cents one day and had no idea what this would sound like. I was more than pleased as I listened to the first side and this quickly became one of my favorites. I highly recommend this album if you have never heard it. Click here to listen.

Salvation - Salvation

Year: 1968
Country: USA
This is the first album released by Salvation, a band that all too briefly existed in 1968, recorded 2 albums then broke up. This album features some pretty cool psych rock and to me is quite enjoyable to listen to however I don't think this is their best work but definately good to listen to. Click here to listen.

This is the last Chuck Palahniuk e-book I have. I have an audiobook of Haunted if anyone is interested. Click here to read.

Chuck Palahniuk - Invisible Monsters

Here's another Chuck Palahniuk book I haven't read yet but I'm sure it's a really good one like his other books. Click here to read.

Chuck Palahniuk - Diary

This book was published in 2003. More great stuff by Palahniuk I'm sure but I have not read this one myself yet. Sounds really good from the reviews I have read. Click here to read.

Chuck Palahniuk - Fight Club

Since there were some people interested in the other 2 books by Chuck Palahniuk that I posted before I am going to post the other 4 books that I have. All of them are in PDF format except for Survivor which is in Microsoft Word format. Don't think I need to say anything about Fight Club. If you liked the movie then you will probably like the book even better. Click here to read.

Big Dipper (2008)

My brother is also interested in photography and he took this great shot of the Big Dipper at Chippewa Lake Park a couple days ago. I wanted to get a shot like this when I was there but there were still too many leaves. This place is currently undergoing redevelopment after sitting unused for 30 years and the weird beauty of the abandoned amusement park will all be gone.
You can see more photos by my brother on Flickr:

Various Artists - Class of '66!

If I had to pick a favorite year for 1960's music it might be 1966. I dig a lot of albums & singles from that year. This compilation has some cool crude, teen, garage music. Click here to listen.

Various Artists - World Without Fuzz

I do not have any cover art for this album so I made one up that reflects my idea of a world without fuzz. This is an excellent compilation of 1960's garage rock bands & you should deffinately check it out. Click here to listen.

YaHoWa 13 - Penetration: An Aquarian Symphony

Year: 1974

Another weird album from YaHoWa 13. Seriously, read up on this guy before you listen, it's quite an interesting story. Click here to listen.

YaHoWa 13 - To The Principles, For The Children

Year: 1974
Country: USA
This one is a more personalized, painfully vulnerable album of songs. This is odd, fragmented music that is captivating at some points but not always that interesting musically. Click here to listen.

YaHoWa 13 - The Operetta

Year: 1975
Country: USA
This album was recorded in 1975 but not released until 2004. If you do not know who YaHoWa aka Father Yod is I highly recommend doing a Google search or Wikipedia because he was a pretty interesting character and made some really cool music. Click part 1 & part 2 to listen.

Philippe Besombes - Libra

Year: 1975
Country: France
This seems like an appropriate companion to the last album I posted. This one is plenty weird and full of dark & scary sounds. Click here to listen.

John Moran - The Manson Family: An Opera

Year: 1992
Country: USA
This is an album I have not seen posted anywhere else & is one of my favorite $1 CD purchases ever. Not exactly psychedelic music like I have been posting but I think it still fits here. This opera is very weird, extremely creepy and I bet some people won't make it through the whole thing. I think it's a great and intense album. Listen part 1 and part 2.

Alan Watts - This Is It

Year: 1962
Country: UK
This is considered to be the first psychedelic album. I, before hearing this album, thought psychedelic music had it's beginnings around 1965-1966. I think this album qualifies and Alan Watts was definately experimenting with psychedelics at this time. Click here to listen.

Year: 1967
Country: USA
Another cool psychedelic rock album from 1967. Click here to listen.

Cosmic Avalanche

The Mesmerizing Eye - Psychedelia: A Musical Light Show

Year: 1967

Chuck Palahniuk - Lullaby

I have most of Chuck Palahniuk's other books but this is the only other one I have read so far. I also highly recommend this odd story, it's very good. If anyone is interested in more of his novels, let me know and I can add them in the future. Click here to read.

Chuck Palahniuk - Choke

Chuck Palahniuk is definately one of my favorite modern authors. I saw the movie Fight Club but this was actually the first book of his that I read and I was blown away. It is a weird story but it is also very good and hooks the reader. If you read books, read this one. Click here to read.

The Unfolding - How To Blow Your Mind And Have A Freak-Out Party

Year: 1967

This one falls into the group of psychedelic exploitation records. Doesn't mean much to me because this is still an awesome album to listen to. Plus if you do want to know how to blow your mind and have a freak-out party you're all set. Click here to listen.

The Free Pop Electronic Concept - A New Exciting Experience
