This is considered to be the first psychedelic album. I, before hearing this album, thought psychedelic music had it's beginnings around 1965-1966. I think this album qualifies and Alan Watts was definately experimenting with psychedelics at this time. Click here to listen.

When you look at the kind of stuff Aldous Huxley and Alan Watts were writing in the early 50s - condoning experimental drug-use, embracing eastern mysticism and yoga, i think you what you begin to realise that the whole hippy movement of the mid-60s was only just catching upto what had been going on (in admittedly closed academic circles) for well over a decade!
